Lock 5
Project Description:

This project consisted of repairing the entrance road into Lock and Dam 5 near Minnesota City, MN.  The existing curb and gutter, sidewalk and bituminous surfaces were removed.  Aggregate base, various soils and debris (from previous repairs of sink holes) were excavated to a depth of 22 feet.  New sheet piling was installed behind the Evergreen Wall.  A combination of PVC and RCP piping was installed to create an extensive drainage system to reduce potential detrimental forces of nature being applied against the structural retaining wall system.  Portions of the existing stormwater system were repaired and/or replaced.  New sub-grade and aggregate base were installed and compacted.  New curb, gutter and sidewalks were installed.  New asphalt driving surface and new traffic markings were completed.
